R`mani Taylor’s 13 points highlighted a balanced scoring attack for the Lady Sharks, which also featured Trintee Jones with 11 points and Bre`yon White, Sydni John- Baptiste and Da`nae Williams with 10 points apiece.
John-Baptiste converted a Taylor pass inside into a game-opening layup and Taylor followed with a pair of free throws for a quick 4-0 SC lead. Chanielyn Galloway kept Ball High close early with a three-pointer, but Jones then struck with a jumper for Shadow Creek and John-Baptiste added back-to-back buckets off steals for a 13-5 Lady Sharks’ advantage with 3:21 left in the first period.
John-Baptiste’s trey gave the Lady Sharks a 20-11 cushion following the initial eight minutes and despite only scoring nine points in the second quarter, Shadow Creek increased its margin to double digits at 29-18 at the break, thanks to Jones’ field goal just before the buzzer.
The Lady Tors closed within six at 53-47 late in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Sharks sealed things with a game-ending 6-0 run.
The Shadow Creek boys were also in action this week, facing Houston Austin in Alvin late Monday in the Class 5A bi-district playoffs, while the Manvel boys play Houston Madison in their 5A bi-district playoff on Tuesday... Click here to read full article
