The Manvel Mavericks erupted for a five-run sixth inning to break open a close game and collect a 10-4 triumph over Shadow Creek in a one-game 24-5A Baseball seeding playoff Saturday afternoon in Pearland.
Both area diamond squads, who entered the contest with 10-5 district marks, will be competing in the Class 5A bi-district playoffs later this week with this also being the Sharks’ first ever appearance in the postseason.
Third-seeded Manvel (13-12) meets the runner-up from 23- 5A at a site and time to be determined, while Shadow Creek (17-8-1) will play the district champion, also at a site and time to be determined.
Dillon Novak drove in a pair of runs and Isaiah Walker went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Mavs, while Warren Shankle belted a two-run homer in the seventh and Joseph Gomez also had a pair of hits for the Sharks.
